Castor Oil

Vegetable castor oil for lubricants under high thermal stress and for two-stroke blends. B2B supply from an ADM authorised tax warehouse, packaged in the formats you require.

Quotation reserved for professional operators

Description

Vegetable castor oil, obtained from the seed of Ricinus communis, for technical uses and for formulating lubricants exposed to severe thermal stress.

Why it is used

The ricinoleate molecule carries a hydroxyl group that makes it strongly polar: the lubricating film clings to the metal and holds even when temperature exceeds the working window of mineral oils. That is why castor oil remains the historical reference in two-stroke applications and in air-cooled competition engines, where local thermal load is severe and contact time extremely short.

Typical uses

  • base for competition lubricants and for two-stroke engine blends;
  • component in formulations for model engines and small displacements;
  • industrial technical uses that call for polarity and film strength.

How we supply it

PSP operates as an ADM authorised tax warehouse and, at the same time, as a blending and packaging plant: storage, conditioning in the required formats and accompanying documentation stay within a single point of responsibility, with no handover between different operators. Third-party processing and packaging are available, including under your own brand.

Storage and shelf life

Castor oil is hygroscopic and sensitive to prolonged oxidation: it should be kept in closed containers, away from light and heat sources, and stock should be rotated. In blends with fuels, separation is the risk to watch, and it depends on temperature, water content and blend composition: testing has to be done on the real formulation, not on the theoretical one.
